Well...I'm back!

It's been awhile. I have been baking but really nothing much to report!  I just checked out my friend's blog and got motivated again!  
My last post was about macarons and how obsessed I am with them. I've continued to make them, and eat them, of course!  They have been a big hit with my youngest daughter's teachers.  

I've been looking for a good chocolate cupcake recipe (the really good one I have has bourbon in it!) so I tried one I found on Pinterest. I really didn't care much for it- just not enough chocolate flavor. So I'll be trying another tomorrow. I better find something quick since I have 4 dozen to have decorated and ready to be delivered by Friday morning.  Shark fins are the theme. Pics to follow once I get them finished. 

Mad for Macarons

I just recently started making macarons.  They are absolutely addictive!  I can't stop making and eating them.  I was first drawn to how pretty they are.  They are so colorful and cute.  I initially found a recipe on the Internet.  I wasn't sure what to expect- after all I've never even tasted a macaron!!  The color was good (they were an awesome purple) and they didn't taste too bad, but they were not very cute!  More like odd shaped and cracked.  This lead to some investigation and I came across a kit that I found on Amazon.  It came with the silicone mat and a silicone bag that made it so much easier to pipe the meringue into perfect little circles.  The first batch were saffron pumpkin spice with a chocolate ganache filling.  YUM!!  The texture was absolutely amazing.

Hello there!!  

I guess it's time to get with the changing times and start a blog!  I'm sure the Facebook world will be glad I won't be posting photos of cakes, cupcakes, or macarones any longer.  I hear this is the place to do that sort of thing!  So.... here I am.  

This love of all things cake started about 12 years ago when I first baked my oldest daughter's birthday cake.  Every birthday for her and my youngest daughter has me trying to come up with some type of personalized confection for them.  Now, I've expanded to making cakes for friends too.  I'll get in to all that a little later and post some photos too!
